World AIDS Day 2007 Wrap-Up! PDF Print E-mail

Seasons Greetings!

On December 1, 2007, the Valley AIDS Information Network, Inc. (VAIN) held a World AIDS Day event in Corvallis at the Roll-A-Way skating rink. Our event, aptly titled Roll-AIDS, had over 50 people in attendance and everyone seemed to have a wonderful time. With the help of many people and organizations we had a wonderful event.

As the chair of the VAIN World AIDS Day committee I would like to personally thank and acknowledge everyone who made our event not only possible but also a success.

  • Mayor Charlie Tomlinson: For his support of VAIN's work against the AIDS epidemic and for proclaiming December 1, 2007 World AIDS Day in Corvallis, Oregon.

  • Tom Johnston: A special thank you for arranging advertising funding and poster printing.

  • PFLAG: For giving a generous donation that allowed us to run newspaper ads.

  • Rainbow Health Resources: For giving a generous donation that allowed us to run newspaper ads.

  • Dave and Cindy Crapo, Levi, Andy, and all of the Roll-A-Way staff: Owners of Roll-A-Way Skate and Bounce who graciously allowed us to hold the Roll-AIDS event at their establishment and were so wonderful and helpful. And a special thank you for their personal financial contribution to VAIN.

  • DJMylo from KBVR 88.7 FM: For donating her time and tremendous talent and spinning the perfect music selection! (Good luck in medical school next year!)

  • OSU Multicultural Centers: For all of their help and support in arranging DJMylo and for their word of mouth (email) help in getting the word out about Roll-AIDS.

  • Bob Bowers and Kaylee Garland of HIVictorious: For selflessly spreading the word about living with HIV/AIDS, being so positive about life, and being willing to get on skates.

  • Chris Gray from Benton County Health Department: For bringing condoms and information about HIV/AIDS and STD testing, and supporting VAIN's efforts in HIV/AIDS education.

  • Margo Denison from VAIN: For bringing the information booth and staying for the event.

  • Steven Leider of OSU Pride Center and VAIN: For arranging the vans, driving, printing, and pointing us in the direction of so many resources.

  • Bob Skinner and Daniel Howard: For volunteering to be on the WAD committee, being so supportive and helpful, and always being willing to lend a hand and give me information on resources.

  • Jason Neiss: For being unwavering in your support, for arranging all of the music, and for designing all of the posters and flyers.

  • Everyone who came, skated, and had fun!

Thank You Again!

Dawn Marie Alapisco, Chair of VAIN World AIDS Committee.
